The tide is changing, even in places like NC, and while some Black pastors enjoy the power of hate-filled preaching (I'm a preacher, too, and know the temptations of hate-filled preaching) - after all, Black or White, pulpits love to preach hate - it inspires the pew-dunces, raises money and enhances the feelings of self-righteousness, and who doesn't like to feel self-righteousness now and then?
Hatred of LGBTQ persons is the last "safe" public expression of hatred allowed in our culture. BTW, I use the word "hatred" as it's used in the New Testament - not an emotional word, but a complete rejection of someone or something.
