Mean-Spirited President

My heart is broken for the thousands of transgenders serving our armed forces ... and for the thousands of transgender youth in our nation who now have a president who hates them, and is more than willing to cause them untold harm in order for him to pander a bit further to the likes of Franklin Graham and the rest of the hoodwinkers, charlatans, means-spirited, religion-hucksters who crow like idiots over this man and his mindless and self-serving ways.

What's up with this except meanness?

Is this not a threat to our armed forces?

And, now, one-by-one, our transgender service members will be "lined up" and evaluated as to their "deployability"?

And then, to add harm to harm, to stop all medical treatment?

This is just plain mean-spirited ... a policy without purpose ... hurting people because this is what the mean-spirited do.

And that's what we have for a president, a man of mean-spirit, limited intelligence, emotional bankruptcy, and a penchant for bling.

Shame on him ... double, triple, infinite shame ...

And shame on those people standing behind him in Phoenix, with maniacal grins on their faces, cheering the fool on in his narcissism, feeding his bloated ego, loving his lies ... are they not mean-spirited, too?

They are ... and couldn't care less about the pain they inflict because in their own demented way, they feel power, they feel in control, in charge, and what better way to "be in charge," than to crush the life out of another human being.

In a world full of real sorrow, real threats and dangers, to go after the transgender soldier is just meanness ... spite ... and plain bullheadedness ... it proves nothing for good, it accomplishes nothing of value ... and feeds the fires of hell now burning bright and hot.

The Harvest is Trump

Listened to Romney trash #Trump today ... no question there, but then Romney did his obligatory #Obama bash ... I thought to myself: #Romney and the #GOP are simply harvesting the results of their 8-years of obstructionism and tolerance of hate and bigotry. 

Trump isn't anything new, but rather the culmination of years now of GOP efforts to deconstruct the nation while playing footsie with #Limbaugh and #Beck and a host of other fascists and neocon war mongers.

It's an ugly thing to see what you've become, and there's no clearer picture right now of what the GOP has become than it's presumptive nominee, Donald Trump.

Vote for Romney/Ryan!

If you've hitched your wagon to the 1%, then vote for Romney/Ryan.

If you believe that men like Karl Rove, Donald Trump, John Boehner, Eric Cantor and Sheldon Adelson have your best interests at heart, and that of the nation as a whole, then go ahead, vote Romney/Ryan.

If you believe that the economic policies of the Far Right, the T-Bags, George W. Bush and the whole union-busting, hate-the-evil-Empire policies of Reagan are the right course for America, then, yes, vote Romney/Ryan.

If you believe that Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin articulate a coherent message of hope for the nation, and for women and children, and set a worthy example for your daughters, then go ahead and vote for Romney/Ryan.

They will deliver on their promises!

They will destroy affordable healthcare for Americans ... they will further erode public education ... destroy unions and end collective bargaining ... roll back minimum wage, privatize Social Security; severely limit Medicare and all other safety-net policies; unfetter big biz from regulation and encourage Wall Street to run wild ... end all efforts at marriage equality; remove the rights of women in healthcare, compel birth - regardless of its origin; the military will be ramped up and more wars will be fought ... with no one to monitor our food supplies and the water we drink and the air we breath ... drilling and mining will pillage the environment without heed ... because God watches over us and prevents global warming.

If you think the 1% are wealthy now, just wait!

If you believe the 1% care about you, and your future is connected to theirs, then vote for Romney/Ryan.

I Pray Not!

My soul is distressed.

As the hymn says, "Once to every man and nation comes the moment to decided."

I fear that Americans have grown so shallow, so self-serving, so selfish and prideful, and so "christian," that America will make the wrong decision. If it does, so goes the judgment of God. It fell like a hammer on prideful Jerusalem, with all of its religion, and on every empire since.

I hope and pray that America will remember who is it, by our founding mothers and fathers. I fear that folks like Pat Robertson and Donald Trump have won the day. And if they have, then so be it. But it will be a sad day for America when money wins and power triumphs.

When the 1% trump the 99%; when The People surrender their voice to the insanity of the privileged class. It's happened before and it might well happen again.

I pray not. I pray not.

What Really Built America?

In all regards, the greatest strides this nation has made for liberty and well-being have been crafted and driven by what we might call progressives or liberals.

The reactionary forces want to dismantle our freedoms and feed us to the corporate monster.

It was socialism, if you will, that built the Hoover Dam and the TVA and got us out of the Depression and built our interstate system; it's "socialism" that funds our military and safeguards our airways (before the Reagan deregulators took over) and our schools (no wonder the GOP fights against school-funding) and health-care system (what's left of it).

It was a liberal vision that fought the Revolution, that sought the abolition of slavery, that gave us the 8-hour workday and a living wage. Come on folks - it wasn't the wealthy who made this nation great. It was the working men and women working together, organizing, along with a strong government, that built this nation and made it great - so that a bozo like Trump might wear his hair oddly and prance around like he was actually a citizen of value.
