My soul is distressed.
As the hymn says, "Once to every man and nation comes the moment to decided."
I fear that Americans have grown so shallow, so self-serving, so selfish and prideful, and so "christian," that America will make the wrong decision. If it does, so goes the judgment of God. It fell like a hammer on prideful Jerusalem, with all of its religion, and on every empire since.
I hope and pray that America will remember who is it, by our founding mothers and fathers. I fear that folks like Pat Robertson and Donald Trump have won the day. And if they have, then so be it. But it will be a sad day for America when money wins and power triumphs.
When the 1% trump the 99%; when The People surrender their voice to the insanity of the privileged class. It's happened before and it might well happen again.
I pray not. I pray not.
"Compassion isn't a principle, but a practice, arising out of the recognition of our own complexities and contradictions."

Ashcroft? One of our finest fascists
Remember Ashcroft?
Court case proceeds against him - click HERE to read more!
In the last 50 years, our right-wing friends have managed to produce a rash (yup, let's call it that - sort of like jock-itch) of first-class fascists who would gladly put most of us in jail and turn the reigns of government over to the barons of industry.
He and his henchmen are exceedingly dangerous.
They'd sell us out in a heartbeat to some strange religious, apocalyptic vision driven by the lunatic ravings of Colson, Dobson and Robertson and the maniacal dreams of Wolfowitz and Cheney.

Good Friday, 2008
McCain is scarier than ever - he's selling his soul to the neo-cons and theo-cons to win their votes and create a place for himself in history. His recent tour of Iraq was the most pretentious thing I've witnessed - pretending to be Bush! A tank-riding Dukakis moment if there's ever been one!
As for Hillary and O'Bama, has their talk calmed down a bit?
Attacking each other as they've been doing will only harm either of their chances to win in November.
What a dilemma.
And now that a revote in Michigan seems unlikely, and who knows what will happen with Florida, the Dems have got to get their house in order.
I oscillate between Hillary and O'Bama ... time will tell - we've got to stop the bleeding of the American military in Iraq, we have to find ways to re-center our market economy with a firm moral partnership with government in order to sustain and enlarge the middle class, universal health care is the only option, and we still have to clean our own house on race, gender and sexual orientation.
And for folks like Rush Limbaugh, James Dobson and Pat Robertson - tell 'em to take a hike to the far side of the moon.
They fail on the side of love - they play upon our fears and heighten our anxiety, adding further fuel to the anger gripping our society.
We can do better; we must do better. It's time to rebuild America and find our soul again.
